Target Part II

So I was online IMing with Eric and I told him how much I loved shopping at Target and purchased a few pair of shorts. He then asked me if I got the plaid ones! Wait, huh? What? How did he know I bought the plaid ones? Well, it seems he went to Target a week ago and bought the same shorts I did. I thought it was hilarious! And as you can see here, we both wore the same pair today. I sent him a pic on my cell the shorts I wore and he sent back a pic of him wearing the same one and we're both wearing 34!

Me in Mossimo shorts. My belly is getting huge!

Target

Love Target. I finally decide to get my fat ass back in the gym and I go break my leg. So not only am I getting fat from being bored and stuffing my face, I gotta get new shorts. Thanks to Target, you can get cool shorts for under $20 and some under $10. I remember when Mossimo first lauched and was so excited to get a piece of the collection!

I got 5 pairs of Mossimo cargo shorts and new socks.

Saw Rear Window yesterday afternoon on VOD! Good movie. Started watching French Connection but I fell asleep.

Bored

Max has decided that flipping over for a tummy rub is what he wants.
Teri and Tyler came over for a visit. Poor Tyler's having issues with the birds and plugs his ears when's he comes down the steps. I'm sure he'll phase out of it sooner or later.

Vacancy Movie

It was either Vacancy or Fracture. Neil decided on Vacancy. He asked how can a movie with Luke Wilson be scary? I was wondering that too, and with Kate Beckinsale? But it works. A good B grade flick.

I was checking out my broken leg and noticed that my right calve has shrunk. Did you notice that too Nate?

Cast comes off

I forgot to take my camera into the clinic. They cut off my temporary cast and pull the staples out. Now I'm back into the removable boot. I got the right size but it's still a pain.
Took a long hot bath and scrubbed as much dead skin as gently as possible. The Ortho doc said my healing looked great. No pus or leakage and the x-rays looked good.
Some temporary butterfly tapes. I still can't put any weight on my leg for a month. In 2 weeks, I'll start rehab.

American Idol

After watching tonight's episode, I think Jordan Sparks should win. Melinda runner up.

I predict LaKisha is going home first, then Phil, then Chris, and then Blake.

Disturbia

Shia LeBeouf is in a lot of movies this year. I thought this homage to Rear Window was really good. Suspense, thriller, unexpected, and fun.
The last 1/4 wasn't in line with the rest of the movie but still a good matinee.

Turistas - Unrated version

Neil picked this one out. It was okay. Definitely a rental. Josh Duhamel was in it, I guess he was good as eye candy but that was about it. Kinda like Hostel, Saw, The Cave, Hills have eyes all in one.

The one movie I wouldn't mind seeing is Disturbia.

Who gets to call it Art?

Comcast has VOD (Video on Demand) and I was watching this historical documentary on Henry Geldzahler. If you get a chance to watch this, do so. He's an amazing art curator for MOMA and brought forth POP ART into the mainstream and befriended almost every known artist of the late 20th century.

4-20

Man...i can sympathize with morning sickness. I can't explain it but I' ve been extremely nauseous these past few mornings. Dry heaving and at time major diarrhea. I've been using 2 prescribed anti-nausea pills and patch to keep me even keel. Not sure if anyone else has had as much issues with breaking their leg causing upset stomach, headache, diarrhea, and nausea!

You'd think I'd be losing massive amounts of weight, but no!

Oh the interesting side. check out this new candle line...
www.daynadecker.com

Totally awesome. Got a few testers from them and the glass is killer cool and the wood wick crackles like a fire log.

Have a good weekend! I go in next Thursday to check up on my fracture. I'm so ready for it to come off. I have till Thursday to decide if I should get a fiberglass permanent cast or a removable boot. The permanent cast would be more light weight but the boot would allow me to shower without all the hassle of bagging it. Any thought?

drunk tweeker

Neil was in the kitchen when he saw a shadow in the front door. Unfortunately, the front door is frosted so we can't really see out or in. He heard a quiet knock and opened the front door to see a tall skinny white kid looking all drunk and tweaked out. Neil screamed at him to get the fuck out and slammed the door shut and called 911. They came to check out the neighborhood.

Maybe he was trying to break in and was surprised that Neil opened the door and he took off. Who knows. But I gotta tell you, I'm ready for this week to be over!

I saw The pursuit of Happyness. It was ok. I've watched a whole week of Regis and Kelly. Pat Sajak was the co-host as Regis is out recovering from surgery. Pat's kinda funny. Then I watched Rosie banter with Elizabeth on The View.

My novacaine has worn off and yes, my leg is now in pain. I finally gave in and took some vicodin with lots of food and water.

I have to tell you. Don't break a leg. It's a bitch getting in and out of the tub to shower. I got a chair for the tub but it's now even more of a pain to maneuver my way in and sit down.

And lets talk about trying to put on underwear and pants. I have to get myself on the floor, lay on my butt, throw my legs up and try to put on one leg at a time. But the problem is I can't move my broken leg so it's like trying to lasso my leg w/ my underwear.

Right now, I'm taking the advice of the nurse by icing the area under my knee. She says it helps w/ the swelling and the itchiness.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Screw Me!

Went into surgery this afternoon. As I was filling out the paperwork, I saw that they noted that the surgery was to be done on my left ankle. Ummm, Hello......I broke my RIGHT ankle. So I went up to the counter and told the receptionist that I already had this conversation the previous day and corrected her that it was my RIGHT and not LEFT leg. So the receptionist says to me, so you're not having surgery on your left leg? So I stuck up my right foot at her in the air and said, "its my right leg" The leg that's in the cast!

The anethesiologist and surgeon were top notch. I told them I wanted to be knocked out. I don't want to be awake for 2 hours listening to them cut me open, reset my bones, and hear screws going into my bones. No thank you!

So 2 hours later, I'm all numb and in a smaller cast and feeling good.

Sure this is old. Some of you may have played it. But it's mindless and it keeps the clock ticking while I sit at home bored shitless.

Lady M Confections

Oh, I can't wait to head back to NYC and try this cake boutique on the Upper East Side. Lady M Confections.

I love crepes and this is a 20 layer crepe cake. mmmmmmmmmmmmm!

oxycodon

Never take oxycodon unless you want to be constipated. Eat lots of veggies or fiber tabs. Having been doped up on it for 2 days, I ended up with bloating, nausea, and massive headaches. The headaches were obvious from no coffee for 3 days.

I went to the ER and they took x-rays of my bowels and the ER doctor said my bowels were pretty much blocked. My nausea was from the meds so I'm only taking tylenol.
She gave me some oral liquid laxative that taste like concentrated sour patch kids candy. SOUR!

So today, I've been sitting on the potty clearing my bowels and I had coffee. Yeah! No more headaches, and tummy is better. Ate some toast and jam.

But this removable cast is so heavy, it's like carrying 40 lbs of weight on a broken foot. Who's stupid idea was that?

Ankle update

Saw the Ortho guy today. Ended up throwing up to and from the appt in the car. Motion sickness or too much Oxycodon?

Going in for an outpatient surgery to put in pins to hold my bones and repair the ligament. It's something the doctors say they see in a lot of sports injury.

I'll be out of commission for 3-6 months.

Back to sleep! All these meds are making me pass out.

Happy Easter/ Broken ankle

Happy Easter! It's been a rough spring. 2 employees quit which ended up being a very positive experience.

This morning, I went into work early and I've always been concerned that one day I'll fall off the ladder and well, today was the day. The new hardwood floor we installed has a thick varnish layer that can be very slippery. As I was going up the ladder I realized it wasn't locked into place and found myself desperately trying to grab onto the ledge as I was falling with the ladder. The height was only about 10 feet and I landed ok on my left foot but as I landed on my right foot, it got stuck between the rungs and the ladder fell on top of my foot. By the way I was laying on the floor and how my right foot was at a grotesque angle, I knew I broke it. I was panicking and tried to get up but once I stood up, the pain was so intense I screamed and fell back down. I hurried crawled to the phone and quickly got up on my left foot and fell back down on the floor to call Neil and 911 right way. 911 arrived in less than 5 minutes. While waiting, I was laughing that I was the lady in the commercial, "I've fallen and I can't get up!"

I realized that I had locked the door behind me and had to crawl across the store with my right broken angle up in the air jutting out 90 degrees up and away from my body. Once I had the door open, I crawled back behind a table to hide myself from passer-bys. I didn't want them to see me on the floor as I knew the Fire Dept was on their way.

Once the Fire Dept arrived, the put me in a splint and cut my shoes off. The pain was excrutiating and throbbing at this point. The took me to Swedish in Ballard and there, they cut off my jeans. I was thinking, Fuck!...there goes a few hundred bucks!

I concentrated on breathing and tryingto relax through the pain and they gave me dilauded. The pain instanted subsided and became more dull than sharp. The attending told me to was going to pull my ankle and snap it back into place. Despite the pain meds, I felt everything.

A few x-rays and hours later, Both the tibia and fibula were fractured and broken in a few places near the foot. No bones in the ankle or foot looked broken. I'm going to an orthopedic specialist tomorrow for a consult where they'll suggest I either put the leg in a cast or have surgery to put some pins in.

In the meantime, the dilauded made me extremely groggy and I was going in and out of consciousness. I'm now at home on oxycodon with my leg elevated upon my heart and I' ve been told I'd be out of comission for at least a week. The cast might be 6 months.

I've also realized that crutches are not very useful and can be extremely challenging. It's so hard to use especially going up or down the stairs.

Sleep Apnea

Neil spent last night at Virginia Mason's Sleep Center to evaluate his sleep apnea. It seems he stops breathing every few minutes. Pretty scary. His 02 saturation dropped down to 70%! When they put him on the CPAP, he didn't have an episode and slept through the whole night.
Unfortunately, this is what you'll have to stick on your head every night. I tried it on, it's quite plush and comfy on the head, not tight or binding. The plastic nose hose is quite soft and silicon like. I think it took the scientist a lot of trials to get it right.

The only problem now is what to do with Max. He sleeps on Neil's head but lately he's been sleeping on my chest under the covers. He loves chewing on plastic and I'm not sure if we're that keen on having him chew through the respirator mask ($150) each night as a toy.
