smith tower

smith tower, originally uploaded by awungfoo.

We went to Chinatown for dinner tonight and ate at Canton Wonton House. I thought it was relatively good and the portion was big. Was it better than Wonton City in Crossroads? I like wonton city better because the siu kau is more flavorful and the noodles more al dente.

U2 3D

I wish I saw it at iMax but the show has been moved to 9:30pm. However, some theaters are showing it and we saw a matinee at Pacific Place. It was in a way better than the real thing.

Here's a review I found and to Danny an Teri, SEE IT!

it's been nice lately with the skies so blue and warming up a bit. Spring is around the corner and I can't wait! I have to admit that we've been lucky this winter and haven't had much snow. I pity the folks in the midwest and back east.

Seattle Flower and Garden Show

stringing along, originally uploaded by awungfoo.

No garden photo you say? Well, I wasn't impressed. I haven't been to the F&G Show in years. I remember that there were many more displays and more "real" gardens. It seems that the displays were just overstuffed with plants and flowers and things that didn't seem to go together or grow to maturity and look good. Sure it looks good now, but if actually planted your yard like like, you'd have a MESS in a few years time.

That's besides the point, I was hoping to get some really cool shots in but the lighting was dark and too many people to get a good shot. I would have needed a tripod :( There were sooooo many vendors selling everything from garden stuff, to plants, and non-garden related items like oh jewelry! For the first time, the show was more like a bizarre than a garden show. There were so many non-garden related booths that I told Neil 1/2 way through, i wanted to leave.

so NOT worth $38 for the both of us.

a whole mess of uglies, originally uploaded by awungfoo.

haven't had much time to go out and take pictures. Been so busy with work and processing all the paperwork and lines to consider. I took this a few months back and thought it would be fun to make a collage.

And Nate, Toxic on iTunes sounds way better. Whatevah! :P

toxic

You know her from iTunes. But this version of TOXIC is amazing!!!

Direct Buy

People have suggested that we look into "Direct Buy" as another resource for furniture, appliances, and whatnot for the home.

This is how it goes. First you must make an appointment to visit them. We received an email telling us when and where to go. You have to arrive at EXACTLY 5:25pm or you will NOT be allowed to enter. You must reschedule. You MUST sit through a "show". Now mind you, Neil did all this planning and scheduling without my knowledge.

So today, we head up to Bothell and it took us over 1.5 hours to get up there. So we were "late" and lost. We got there at 5:43pm and the lovely girl at the register gives us name tags and Neil says, "Why do I have to wear a name tag? Where's your?" She says, "So that we all know who you are! And I forgot mine at home. I've been already warned about it. I'm bad!" I wanted to kick her face in! A fat lady was sitting on the couch and says to the girl, "Oh dear! I don't have a name badge! Darling, I guess I need one too!" The girl says, "No ma'am, you're fine."

The girl says, "please have a seat and someone will be with you shortly." I walked around and read their Motto. It was like an "Amway brainwashing scheme." You cannot buy merchandise to resell. You cannot unveil or use DirectBuy prices to negotiate with other retailers...blah blah blah.

So this guy comes out and introduces himself as John. John says to us. "Welcome! But unfortunately, you're late and the session has already started! Would you like to to reschedule?"
And Neil says, "Reschedule for what? I'm here to buy appliances. Why do I need a name tag? All this is hookey to me!" John says, "Well, it's the session you signed up for. You're here for the presentation!" Neil says, "I don't think so! You're directions were crappy and we spent 1.5hrs getting here and this is all too weird!"

So we left. The guy wasn't even phased by it. He looked at me with a happy face, "Oh I can take your name tag and discard it for you."

Bub Bye.

We then ate at Canyons. The wonderful host saw us coming and instead of greeting us and asking us how many, he led us to a table. OK I thought. Bothell. I'm in Bothell.

I received an email from Michael Yi a few hours later apologizing for their lack of service and quality. He then invited us back as his personal guest on our next visit back to restore our "faith".

We'll be back in August and I'll let you know :)

ahi poke

ahi poke, originally uploaded by awungfoo.

I was looking forward to this on the whole trip. The first time we stopped, it was for lunch w/ Neil's cousins, but they were closed. :( Neil and I went back for dinner and I ordered 2 as dinner. I think they jacked up the price as it was not on the menu and the sushi chef made up a price. Didn't matter, the portion was HUGE as far as I was concerned. It was bigger than the last time we had it with the Zee's.

Overall, it was a mediocre experience. I think the economy has caused all the major hotels to cut back on staffing and it really shows in the customer service department. While my ahi was amazing, the rest of the meal was worst than the Chinese food you get at Safeway.

Neil ordered General Tso's chicken and we had to wait over 1/2 hr after my ahi before it came out. And when it did, it was a mess. The batter was missing on some of the chicken and what is suppose to be a crispy crust was soft and mushy. We asked for hot sauce and she didn't return with it until we ate half the dish. Oh I forgot to mention that we sent back the chicken and the second attempt was slightly better but still sucked.

So having been there almost 2hrs, she placed the dessert menu in front of us and Neil told her, Oh No. Just the bill. She said she would send the manager over but he never came and the gave us some chocolate dessert but we were too upset to bother.

Go back for ahi poke but nothing else. I'm sure Neil will write them a letter as every time we've gone, we've had a pleasant experience.

The Palazzo

The Palazzo, originally uploaded by awungfoo.

What's new? The Palazzo is the new addition to The Venetian. We haven't set foot in their yet but construction is everywhere.

The cab driver told us that 1st quarter is usually the busiest time for them but this year has been terrible. Our convention MAGIC usually sees 90,000. But he estimates it at around 40,000. We feel it too. The traffic is very light compared to previous shows and the line for taxis and restaurants ..well there aren't really any.

We really can't wait for BUSH to leave. He has turned this country into a fucking mess. Unbelievable! He rather focus on the middle east than his own people.

happy vday everyone! it seems we're usually in NY or Vegas on V Day! The weather here is really sunny, bright and warm! But a windstorm has arrived and we're expecting 50mph! Holy shit, i fear the palm trees would fall on everything, they were literally blowing almost 45 degrees!

still in vegas. the first day of work. by 2pm, my feet was sore. Lots of good stuff to process and go through. We had buffet tonight @ MGM Grand Buffet. for $28 it was decent. The crab legs were actually fresh tasting and sweet, not frozen or soggy like most i've had at buffets.

Stopped by the lions tonight and all they do is sleep.

She's Stacked!, originally uploaded by awungfoo.

Off to Vegas tomorrow for work. It's just as cold there as it is here. So I guess we're not going to be getting much warm or sunshine :(

Last time, we made a detour to SJ and I would have loved to do the same considering it's President's 3day weekend. How retarded were we???

Anyway, we'll be back into Seattle the following Friday and the kitchen is coming along. I'll post an update photo after todays' work.

bouillabaisse

bouillabaisse, originally uploaded by awungfoo.

At TNT recommendation, we ate at Pomegranate tonight. Neil had the ribeye and i had the seafood platter. As Teri mentioned, it was cooked to perfection and not a bit overdone. The ONLY thing i wish they included was scallop. It would have made it complete. On a side note, it was a tad bland and i would have like it a bit hearty. But yes it was good.

The pecan chocolate tart was divine and I guess i could have a whole one to myself but we shared.
