nephews
Tyler refuses or simply can't stay still for 1 second. Literally! We had lunch at Red Robin this afternoon and surprise to say that there was very little tantrum until the end. Tanner didn't want his "present" toy to be wrapped up and ended up throwing big sighs and a lot of pouting.

soup du jour
save $ and calm irked stomach. Last night, we went to Yea's Wok for their famous clams in black bean sauce. Delicious. However, later on in the night, I was cramping, farting, and ended up sitting on the toilet most of the night.

RED
MILK
You must see this movie. Sean Penn did a phenomenal job. The supporting cast was flawless and I suspect this movie will sweep the academy awards in every category. Shocking that it's only been 30 years and here we are again dealing with exactly the same fundamental rights issues spearheaded by religious zealots.
This is not really a gay movie, it's a political movie that is so infectious and moving that you will leave the theater feeling charged to go out and do something amazing.

stir
this turned out pretty good. Made some whole grain brown rice to go with it. Was even better the next day for lunch after the sweet potato softened up and absorbed the flavor.
soup
I was trying to make bitter melon w/ black bean sauce. It didn't turn out but I used the left over minced meat and made soup. Delicious.
Having read the entire series, I went in thinking they would do a horrible job w/ the movie. I also read a lot of critic reviews that the movie sucked, but I was pleasantly surprised to say that it wasn't so bad. Neil has not read the book and he love it. Very chick flick but watchable and I'm actually excited to see the next one.

ummm? Batman
You can't get this kid to stand still for a second. None of the pics came out. So this is it. It was fun walking around the neighborhood w/ the kids. I remember getting at least 2 or 3 shopping bags full of treats. We were barely out for 1/2 an hour before Tyler complained his pumpkin was too heavy and Tanner complained of a tummy ache.

black is black
I had this amazing idea to put chandeliers in the windows for holiday. Of course, there's always the budget to consider. We're not Neiman Marcus or Barney's.
I found these online from Urban's for $26 marked down from $36. I went to the one on Capitol Hill and we found only white ones left. The guy marked them down to $9.99 b/c he said they shouldn't even be in the store at this point.
I spent a few hours spray painting them black and woke up the next morning with major carpel tunnel forearm pain. I highly doubt that just using the spray can can cause this much pain.
dress you up
holiday's around the corner and we've stocked up on jackets, coats, holiday dresses, and handbags. Staffing is still an issue, but I've come to realize that it will always be a challenge as the younger generation simply expect to be compensated highly for very little, if any, work done.

AAA Chinese Buffet
We drove up to Everett to watch Meijan's sister Tina Kim perform. She was really funny but I didn't think the 2 comedians before her was all that funny. Maybe because it was in Everett?
We drove by this place, AAA Chinese Buffet. Hey $20 for 2 and 25% off! What a bargain! Lots of fried seafood, sushi, dessert, and a long line. Lots of Asians, Mexicans, and a few token white folks. I guess it's worth the price for the "bulk" of what you'll eat, but in terms of quality, nah.
i sing the body electric
took a stroll w/ mama this morning. There's a lot of salmon in the lake jumping. Lots of ducks, geese, crows, and seagulls looking for a free meal. The crows and seagulls were eating the dead ducks that washed ashore.
Took this photo while mama was on the outskirts of the lake chirping away.

Winter
It' fucking cold outside. I'm tempted to wear thermal underwear. We went to see QUARANTINE yesterday and I was freezing during the entire movie. It wasn't that the movie was all that scary or that the AC was blasting, there was just a chill in the air that went through clothes. I came home and soaked in the tub for hours.
Quarantine was all gore. So if you liked SAW and Hostel, then you'll love this. I had fun.

babysitting
Babysitting these 2 tonight was a breeze. They played, laughed, asked Neil a hundred questions, attempted to build a crazy building model out of a 1000s parts but abandoned it in a wink of an eye.
When 7:57pm rolled around, they both got up and went to bed. Tyler said he didn't want to sleep alone and I asked Tanner if he was OK with Tyler sleeping with him. Tanner said, "Sure!"
Tyler screamed downstairs that he had to run into his room to get his pillow and blanket. Then Tanner screamed that Tyler was kicking his pillow off the bed. I went upstairs and told them that if they made anymore noise that I would send Tyler back to his room.
No more ruckus after that. When I went up to check on them, they were both sound asleep.

point of view
if it's not one thing, it's another...more later.
Did anyone watch the debate tonight? I was actually excited to watch it. I don't remember having seen any of the debates in previous years and I was expecting more verbal attacks and differences. I don't think I was the only one who wanted concrete answers from them in regards to what they had plan to do to fix the economy. Fuck the global issues, fix the ones here in the U.S. where it matters most!

blue shroom burger
Nick from Blue Moon Burger in Fremont stopped by to drop off $2 off coupons so we decided to go there for lunch. I thought the jalepenos poppers would be fresh ones fried whole with cheese but they were the pickled ones battered dip. Interesting but not really spicy.

tyler snapshot
Danny turns 38 today. Happy Birthday. I forgot the name of the green leaf used for this cake. It had young coconut meat in the center with the whip cream.
Terry make dry rub ribs and steak. We brought garlic pea vines. It was a great get together and Maggie is growing so fast.

Me
The economy has finally tanked. Business has slowed down exponentially. We were at U Village to see how other neighborhoods are fairing and I was surprised to see their parking lot very empty. Usually, we can never find parking and end up driving around a few times before anything opens up. Stores were empty with too much inventory and staff just standing around.
The only 2 stores with any activities were Anthropologie and H&M. Anthro had huge sales racks in the back of the store and well, everything at H&M was less than $100. The H&M at U Village is so much better laid out than the flagship store at Southcenter. Well edited and to the point.
Hope this weekend's sales are good. We need it. Our lease is coming up for renewal and our landlord is jacking it up 30% with only 2 years on it. What an asshole. There are assholes and then there are major fucking assholes. No one who leases from them like them, not even the people at Starbucks. What to do?

scent of bourbon
You can be assured that whenever you visit an Anthropologie, you'll be blown away by their window merchandising and displays. Imaginative, creative, fun, whimsical, and so fresh!
